Today we are making Chili Sauce...
From the More With Less Cookbook
Chili Sauce
Cook until soft:
1 gal tomatoes, cut up
2 medium onions, cut up
Press through colander to remove skins and seeds (we boiled the tomatoes and ran them under cold water to get the skins off, how easy!!)
Add:
1 cup sugar
1/2-1 cup vinegar
5 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon curry powder
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
cayenne or chili powder to taste
Cook down to desired consistency. Pour into pint jars, seal and process in hot water bath for 5 minutes.
I am so excited to make this. I loved it while we were growing up.
We are also heading out to the local apple farm to buy a bushel or so of apples and a peeler/corer/slicer too. Cheryl is heading out there with us too, so we will be busy makig apple sauce later.
I shall be back after...I put this post below the one for Lala's blog so don't forget to check her out!!
Sounds like you will be very bbusy in the kitchen... I usually like doing that but have to get a few more ingredients before I can make some "GOOD STUFF". Enjoy cooking!
